Dylan Schmidt

Creating content seems like a waste of time (until it doesn't)

You post your work.

You’re proud of it. Nervous, maybe.
You hope someone notices.

Then…
Silence.

Maybe a few likes. Maybe none at all.

And almost without thinking, you start telling yourself a story:
🤔 Maybe I’m not good enough
🫣 Maybe nobody cares
⌛️ Maybe I’m wasting my time

Here’s the truth:
Creation and recognition happen on two completely different timelines.

Early feedback almost never matches the value of what you made.
Not because you’re bad at it.
Not because your idea didn’t matter to anyone.
But because it takes time.

Most people give up in this waiting period.

They assign destructive meaning to a natural silence.

They stop right when they were actually building momentum.

Don’t let yourself get in your own way.

Keep pressing publish.
Keep owning your output.
Keep trusting that bigger things are unfolding,
things you can’t predict yet.

Your story is still in the introductions,
don’t let your mind trick you into believing your writing the wrong book.

Keep creating,
Dylan

P.S. I shared more about this waiting period on today’s podcast. How to stay steady when the feedback feels slow, and why early silence doesn’t mean you’re off track. It’s a good one if you’re in that quiet stretch right now.

P.P.S. If you've been following me on social media lately, you might've noticed I've been leaning more into AI and tech stuff in my videos. It's been fun to explore and it's connected with a lot more people than I expected. I'll probably share more about that shift next week.
