My Neighbors House Exploded
There I was, minding my own business, about to record a video in my office.
Everything was quiet. Peaceful. Under control.
Then...
BOOM!
The whole house shook. My desk rattled. Even my body vibrated.
What in the name of Michael Bay was going on?
I poked my head outside, half-expecting to see a crater where my neighbor's house used to be.
Instead, I saw another neighbor filming something behind our house.
Lo and behold, it was the house on the next street over.
Flames reaching for the sky, thick black smoke billowing up.
Now, I've got a toddler at home and a wife with a broken leg. We didn't exactly have the luxury of hanging around to roast marshmallows.
We high-tailed it out of there, spending the next hour at the local library. (Pro tip: Libraries are great for impromptu evacuations. Quiet, air-conditioned, and full of distractions.)
Thankfully, no one was hurt. But holy smokes (pun intended), it was a wake-up call.
Stay safe out there.
