Los Angeles Fire Resources (January 2025)
Los Angeles Friends,
Here's a list of resources I've found helpful...
1. LA Mutual Fire Aid Resources
An interactive map that shows a list of all available resources, volunteer opportunities, donation locations, and more.
The map is updated regularly by community members and verified volunteers, making it a reliable source for real-time assistance. You can filter by category (food, shelter, medical supplies) to find exactly what you need.
2. Watch Duty
Alerts you of nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts in real-time.
- Take a look at the "Live Wildfire Cameras" to see current conditions. These cameras provide 24/7 coverage of high-risk areas.
- Under Layers → Weather, enable Surface Wind Direction to have a wind direction overlay on the map. This is crucial for understanding potential fire spread.
- Under Layers → Weather, enable Air Quality Index (AQI) to have an overlay of air quality in your location.
- Pro tip: Make sure notifications are on for your neighborhood and any areas where your loved ones live.
3. ADS-B Exchange
With so many aircraft flying around right now, this interactive tool helps give peace of mind by identifying what each aircraft is.
You can distinguish between firefighting aircraft, news helicopters, and emergency responders. The platform shows flight paths and aircraft types, helping you understand the scope of the firefighting effort.
4. City of Los Angeles Wildfire Recovery
This site provides a full list of services for individuals and/or businesses impacted by the fire.
Stay safe!
