Baseball is weird (so is creating content)
Today is Wednesday, October 23rd. Do you know what that means?
There are only 2 more sleeps until game 1 of the World Series.
Whether you're rooting for the Dodgers (great!), or the Yankees (come on, seriously? I kid I kid)…we should be in for a spectacle.
Why I love baseball: it's SO weird.
Here's an example…
The Dodgers have a catcher named Will Smith.
If the Dodgers win the World Series, it will be Will Smith's second ring. He won his first in 2020.
There's another player named Will Smith (not on the Dodgers), who won a World Series ring in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Hopefully the Dodgers can win and keep the Will Smith streak alive.
Baseball is filled with weird stats like these.
You know what else is weird?
Creating videos, podcasts, and emails like these.
I'm sure we could pull together all sorts of strange stats that would highlight just how unique of a creator you are.
Take YouTube watch time, for instance.
Some of your videos might get 500 views in the first 24 hours, while others slowly build to 10,000 over six months.
Just like how a pitcher can throw a no-hitter one game and get knocked out in the second inning the next.
The reality about baseball (and creating content)…
The most successful don't get rattled by zooming in on every stat.
They show up. They put in the work. They trust the process.
They know that consistency won't have the same outcome every time, at a micro-level.
Staying committed to excellence over a long enough time period will give the best results.
Also, you can show up everyday, try your hardest and still not win.
But here's the thing: You showed up in the first place. And that's what matters.
